Profile
Abstract
Marcus Deufert is full professor of Latin at the University of Leipzig. He studied Greek, Latin and German at the Univ. of Würzburg, Cologne, Cambridge (UK) and Bonn and held earlier academic positions at the universities of Göttingen and King's College London.
He teaches the full range of Roman Literature from the beginnings to the end of antiquity, with a focus on the Classical and early Imperial period.
His published works include a Teubner Edition of Lucretius (2019) with a volume of prolegomena (2017) and a critical commentary (2018). He is currently preparing a critical edition of the fragments of Roman Comedy. The project ist funded as 'Langfristvorhaben' by DFG.
He is and was member of the editorial boards of i.a. Untersuchungen zur antiken Literatur und Geschichte, Lustrum, Hermes, Bibliotheca Teubneriana.
He has received scholarships and fundings from Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung, DFG and BMBF. He is member of Academia Europaea.
