Abstract

Erik Liebscher has been a research associate at the Chair of Early Modern History at the University of Leipzig since May 2024. Here, he conducts postdoctoral research on human-environment relations, in particular on fluvial anthropospheres. His previous work has focused on self-narratives, the lower nobility and sociétés and sociability in the 18th century. His dissertation on the diaries of the Gotha court nobility around 1800, which he submitted in 2024, is located in these research areas. At the Gotha Research Centre (University of Erfurt) he also worked intensively on the history of knowledge and science, especially the emerging natural sciences in the 18th century, radical pietism and early modern natural law.
