Abstract
Kristina Stock has held the professorship for Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies at Leipzig University since 2023. Prior to this, she held the roles of lecturer for special tasks, research assistant, lecturer and research assistant at the University of Leipzig, the Free University of Berlin and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. She has also been an interpreter and translator for Arabic and French since 1985. In 1988, she developed a model for classifying and analysing linguistic images in her dissertation. She has been translating Arabic fiction since 1996.
Her research and teaching specialisms are Arabic history and culture, translation and interpreting studies, language history, stylistics, rhetoric and poetry. In the field of Arabic studies, she has published a lexicon, textbooks and academic monographs as well as other research findings in anthologies and specialist journals.
