Abstract
Ira Sarma is a senior lecturer in Modern South Asian Studies and Hindi. She arrived in Leipzig in 2007 via London (PhD and teaching assisstant at SOAS), Munich (lecturer in Hindi, LMU) and Venice (guest lecturer, VIU). Her main research interests lie in the fields of literary and cultural studies, with a focus on literary theory, textual criticism, literary geography, visual narratives, graphic novels and adaptation studies. She has published on various aspects of HIndi literature and film, Partition photography (especially Magaret Bourke-White), graphic narratives and Indian Gothic literature. At the moment she is working on two project in the field of adaptation studies.
