Book presentation about the opera diva and singer of the century Maria Callas (1923-1977). Event as part of the colloquium Modern Cultural and Intellectual History in the winter term 2024/25. In cooperation with the Centre of Competence for Theatre (CCT).

Maria Callas was the most important opera singer of the 20th century. She revolutionised the world's opera stages and was artistically far ahead of her time. To this day, she inspires, touches and enchants her fans. And rumours and legends about the singer of the century persist to this day. Arnold Jacobshagen tells the story of the opera diva's unique career, explores her art and scrutinises numerous myths that have distorted her image right up to the present day. He describes the influence of private strokes of fate on her development as an artist and thus creates a new image of the dazzling icon Maria Callas.
