On the one hand, the title of the planned lecture series Decolonizing Anthropology describes the ongoing need to decolonize the discipline's own bodies of knowledge, i.e., to critically interrogate the discipline's bodies of knowledge and deconstruct colonial and hegemonic forms of knowledge. On the other hand, Decolonizing Anthropology focuses on the methods, forms of knowledge, and practices that can support the process of decolonization. Students and teachers of anthropology are invited to reflect on the colonial past of their discipline, to discuss genealogies of anti-colonial knowledge production, as well as to engage with current attempts at reappraisal and, in particular, to explore new forms of global cooperation. In this lecture series, participating institutes curate projects, research, and experiences on this topic and test new forms of conversation and dialogue.
